The transport sector is one of the main sectors responsible for greenhouse gas emissions. In France, it accounts for 30% of emissions, most of which come from road traffic.
Road network managers have undertaken actions to promote the decarbonization of road mobility, either by encouraging the massification of transport or by facilitating the adoption of zero-emission vehicles.
While operators’ Scope 1 and 2 emissions are under their responsibility, they represent only a small part of Scope 3 emissions, which are largely generated by user traffic and for which operators do not have all the necessary levers.
A framework tailored to the specificities of the sector, similar to what exists in the aviation industry, therefore seems to be a relevant proposal for setting objectives linked to policies to be implemented by sector operators.
