Foresight session 1 - Holistic approach to foster circular and resilient road and transport infrastructures
Tuesday, March 10

-
16:00
Chair: Thierry Goger, Secretary General, Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories (FEHRL), Belgium
Room: Room 5
The overall objective is to develop a holistic approach, supported by digital solutions, material developments, and guidelines, to foster the introduction of innovative engineering practices throughout the entire construction supply and value chain. This will enable the creation of circular, sustainable, resilient, and smart road and transport infrastructures, both at urban and interurban level, and foster wider deployment of GPP and IP. The session will focus on:
• Digitalisation and circularity in transport infrastructure management - case studies from CIRCUIT project.
• Decarbonising transport infrastructure – innovative solutions for asphalt pavements, lighting systems and tunnels.
• Implementing SMART Construction Practices to build sustainable and resilient road pavements – lessons from the Netherlands.
• Incorporating sustainability, vulnerability, and resiliency considerations into the infrastructure management decision-making processes.
