Tuesday, March 10

18:00
Chair: Caroline EVANS, Strategic Theme 1 Coordinator, PIARC, Australia
Room: Room 3
Strategic Theme 1 Roads Administration responds to the key issues facing road administrators today and aims to provide information on how to address them. This includes the performance of transport administrations and a wide range of tasks, from maintaining and improving road networks, to managing finance and procurement, to planning for the resilience of these networks in the face of extreme weather events and changing hazard risk.
This session will focus on the cross-cutting issue of resilience of the road network in the context of social and economic development, methodologies and approaches for assessing resilience, finance and procurement, and embedding resilient action before, during and after disaster events. There will be 3 topics of discussion. These include a framing of how resilience is covered by 4 PIARC TCs within Strategic Theme 1 (TC1.2, 1.4 and 1.5), challenges and gaps across different dimensions of resilience, and how resilience can be considered in the next PIARC cycle?
