The global climate change that we are experiencing has very strong consequences on the mountain environment. Precipitation patterns are modified, including significant fluctuations in the altitude limit separating precipitation into rain and snow. The decline in snowfall is therefore not synonymous with lower risks, quite the contrary. Episodes of heavy precipitation, which have become recurrent, are often correlated with gravity events combining different processes: rockslides, landslides, mudslides, etc.
This session proposes to shed an illustrative light on this new context, based on three presentations highlighting recent events, which have contributed to placing all stakeholders before a new paradigm: what new challenges and what avenues of response for infrastructure in mountain regions?
